The top floor of the garage featured a turntable mechanism that was fun to crank but which I have never seen in an actual parking garage; perhaps such contraptions were before my time. In addition, elevatoring cars to the various levels was made obsolete starting in the 1940s with the arrival of the reinforced-concrete ramp-up-to-the-next level system. On the other hand, outdoor glass elevators were just entering their heyday in the early 1970s and grease racks were still going strong in those days before the arrival of sealed joints. Also, a gasoline pump in a parking garage does seem like a good idea. All in all, hours of fun for the low low price of $10.85.

Wow! I totally had that exact same set-up. Though maybe it was Matt since I don't remember the grease rack. But I'll never forget the multi-colored decal on the spinning carport at the top.

The elevator mechanism on our family's FP Garage totally sucked! Fell off its tracks and clicked and rang incessantly but could not muster lifting so much as a solo green car w/o passenger!
Call it a Fisher Price 'Garbage', for f**k sake!

Wow! I never knew that this was from the 70's. I'm 15 now and i've been playing with this exact same garage at my grandparents house for as long as i can remember. This year i'm doing a decades project for history and it's awesome that this is part of it!
